But, i think youd rather want to get your dot org (i believe its mandatory for a true non profit organization) from google domains, or even godaddy, tho im leaning on google domains since it seems google isnt close to ever shutting down.

Hosting is going to the toss of the dice, there are so many dicey hosting plans out there, you dont know what youre gonna get, really.

you kinda want “Managed hosting” but if something goes wrong, youre on the phone with God knows who/where and how long it takes.

You will, i mean WILL need some type of website right? Wordpress is free and easy. tho there are paid add ons one might need. you WILL need a SSL certificate, theres a free plug in for wordpress that does this. its also free. but does require some clicking of buttons every 3 months or so.

I have an “unmanaged” linux server for 2 websites, unmanaged means i have to install everything myself, but itsnt really hard, it also means i can reset the server, or if something goes wrong, i dont have to call anyone about it, i can google it myself. I did have to set up a domain name with google domains, and if you want email for the domain, all you have to do is fill out a form over in google domains to forward.

Like user@domain-name.org forwarded to user@gmail.com Tho im not sure how the return mail will show up as domain-name.org, THAT i know can be done on the server itself.

Ive done all this by myself and for 3 domains, all of them friends tho. but even tho i started in 2001, now days its quite different, and can take up a lot of time.

But try not to trust random people on the internet, or those “hire me” sites. not without extensive research first. seen way too many horror stories.
