Hi everyone, looking for some help.

Trying to make my way through all of the classic greek myth texts & just wanting to make sure I’ve not missed anything. Below is my list, I’ll put an X next to those I’ve read so far or looked into and seen that they’re lost/fragmented

I’ve included everything I’ve found when looking things up, even the lost texts, just so I’ve got a full understanding.

If you know of any I’ve missed please let me know, even if it’s lost/obscure!

Because there are so many lost works, I don’t think it’s a good idea to list them all. But if you want, you can include many lost tragedies and epics.

As for the lyric poets, the list already includes Sappho and Alcaeus, but there are many more: Stesichorus, Alcman, etc…

The works of Pindar, Apollonius, Callimachus, Statius, and Nonnos are certainly worth reading.

If you want to include non-literary texts, Pherecydes, Acusilaus, Hellanicus, Nicander, Diodorus, Apollodorus, and Hyginus are important.

And then there is the Scholia, an ancient commentary on many texts.

Timothy Gantz’s Early Greek Myth: A Guide to Literary and Artistic Sources is a good reference for your purpose.

Off the top of my head - Pindar’s paeans, Callimachus’ hymns, Orphic hymns, Apollodorus - Bibliotheca, Strabo - Geography, Pausians - Description of Greece, Statius - Thebaid, Hyginus - Fabulae and Astronomica, Apollonius of Rhodes - Argonautica, Aelian - Varia Historia and On Animals, Apuleius - Florida and Golden Ass, Parthenius - Love Romances, Quintus Smyrnaeus - Fall of Troy, Nonnus - Dionysiaca, Lucian - Dialogue of the gods. There are a lot of books by Plutarch and also Diodorus Silculus. I bet there are many others I’ve missed.

The Argonautica,  All the Ancient Greek Mythologies come from this old text, the rest are oral stories, even the ones attributed to Homer, since the Author are unknown. I found many crucial elements within this poem, besides that was the way ancient men used for transmiting their legends to newer generations. https://www.lulu.com/es/spotlight/hector_melo/

You do realize that Argonautica is oral story, right?

Euripides first tells the story in his play Medea from her perspective.
