This meetup is the first in a (non-consecutive) series on WebGL and shaders. Weâll explore Three.js by creating simple generative 3D sketches, embracing the constraints of limited familiarity with the library as a creative advantage. Three.js and related tools have powered some of the most exciting creative websites in recent yearsâjust check out their showcase for inspiration.
Led by Dea only this time, this will be a relaxed and informal session. Whether youâre already working with Three.js or just discovering it, we hope this meetup sparks new ideas and projects!
đž About c3s
Creative coding crafts space embodies the notion of making space - physical space, head space, collaboration space - where we can get together and craft coding projects, generative artwork, new or âtraditionalâ forms of creative coding projects: anything that is born out of the interactions and inspiration that âspaceâ allows for.
We aim to meet about once a month in or around Hackney Wick - an area known for its large artistic community and a Creative Enterprise Zone. We kick things off with a couple of hours of structured contentâintroducing a new topic or tool, going through live demos, etc. After that, you can choose to stay and delve deeper into the topic of the day, work on your own projects or collaborate with others.
đïž Please note that the entrance fee is to help us cover the cost of the venue hire, and this is not a paid coding course.
đŠ Who is this for?
We operate each session on a difficulty level âtagâ system: beginner, intermediate or advanced which relates to what we expect the difficulty of the content we will teach in that session. In particular, these relate to JavaScript and/or creative coding experience. The meetupâs individual/group work part can be assumed open to any experience level unless stated otherwise.
This particular session will have the tag of intermediate. No knowledge of Three.js will be expected, we will learn this from scratch. However, general experience in coding and some familiarity with JavaScript will be assumed. No need to install or prepare anything, we will code in the browser.
