Etymology

Most likely from the name of the fictional Necronomicon, or from Ancient Greek νομῐκόν ( nomĭkón ), the neuter form of νομικός ( nomikós, “ relating to laws ” ) (also used in the titles of various real works, like the Nomicon of Photius, or the 18th century Nomicon Procheiron of Michael Photinopoulos).
